Away from the Fray

As it says over at my other blog – I’m a freelance writer and blogger, an unapologetic feminist, and a trade union activist. What it doesn’t say there though is that I’m also an avid reader of fiction, or that I’ve previously worked in both bookshops and libraries.

There’s no two ways about it: I love books. I love reading them, I love reading about them, and I also love talking about them.

This blog then is a space where I get to talk about the books I’ve read; it’s a space away from the fray, away from the endless political debates, and away from the hustle and bustle of life in general.

For as Shakespeare once said:

“When the hurlyburly’s done. When the battle’s lost and won.

There’s nothing like settling down with a really good book.”

Well, it was something like that anyway….
